The Metro Church App - We're Leading the Way
Why are we so excited about the release of Metro’s mobile app? First, there are 5,326 churches in the North American Division. Only 6 of those churches – 0.01 percent – that's 1/10th of 1 percent of all of the churches in the division have an app in the iTunes store. That means Metro is on the leading edge of cool things happening in our world church organization. If someone searches for an Adventist church in the iTunes store, Metro will be one of the churches returned in the search results. That’s pretty cool.
Secondly, since the app was released last week (Wednesday, November 16), we’ve had over 600 downloads from the iTunes store – that’s about 85 downloads a day. So of course this can’t compete with the number of Angry Birds downloads – but still. 85 downloads a day of a church-related app? An app that isn’t a game? An app that just basically has preaching? We think that’s pretty amazing. In addition, some of those downloads have taken place in Malaysia, South Africa, India and other locations across the world. People who live thousands of miles away from us are being blessed by the same messages we are receiving. That’s gotta get you excited!
In Matthew 24 Jesus says, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world….” We are ecstatic that here at Metro, we’re helping to make that a reality.
