This year, starting January 8, 2017, we will be getting up, getting out, having fun and getting fit with our families.
We will spring into action with our first 8-week Super Fit Family Challenge. Each week you will be given new health challenges to fulfill. What you did in previous weeks will continue as you build and accept new challenges into subsequent weeks.
It's easy to participate. First, register yourself and/or family. This is to show evidence of your participation and allow us to track data about how Metro is changing our church and community with better health choices, one family at a time. It is the goal of the Health Ministry to help Metro become the first “Blue Zone” church in Hyattsville. How exciting!!!
Second, you need to download and sign the Super Fit Family Challenge Pledge. Bring this in to church and turn it in to any Health Ministry member. Third, check this post (metrosda.org/superfit is an easy way to get to it) each week on Sunday to see what the new challenge; the chalenges will also be publisehd in our bulletin. Share that with your family and get started. At the end of each week, you will have a family meeting to assess your progress. Be sure to listen to and value the input from the children, but always remember you are the gatekeeper as well as quarterback and give them reasonable answers to their questions.
At the end of the eight-week program, have a summary family meeting. Decide which steps worked well for your family and which did not. Decide which you want to incorporate into your family’s daily health plan.
