I want to take this opportunity as we approach Christmas to issue a little challenge to you.
What a wonderful time of year it is as we remember the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When we pause to consider how weak and vulnerable we are at the moment of birth, it is quite difficult to imagine the Creator of the universe in such a way, but indeed this was the case then. He cried when He was hungry, burped after He was fed. He learned to crawl before walking and most likely played with other children. However, there was something different about Him because although a child, He was the Savior of the World.
Isaiah 9:6 (NIV) says “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Brothers and sisters, this world needs MORE of Jesus Christ, not less! So during this season where the minds of mankind have no choice but to give some thought to the most remarkable figure in human history, let us take this opportunity to witness to the fact that the Child grew up, died, rose, now intercedes on our behalf and will indeed come again.
In these times filled with terror attacks and ISIS, people’s hearts are desiring “Peace on Earth and good will toward men” more than ever! As Christians we know that no matter what the world’s governments do, there will only be true lasting peace when Jesus finally unites heaven and earth. In the meantime, I challenge us this Christmas to declare and share with our family and neighbors that peace in our hearts is attainable through a relationship with the amazing gift that is Jesus Christ.
Be Blessed & A Blessing,
Pastor Marquis D. Johns
