I don’t know who it was that first said, “Don’t get so focused on the destination that you forget to enjoy the journey,” but I'm not sure this is necessarily good advice. What if it's the destination that gives you the strength to endure the journey? Or what if it's the destination that determines how you make the journey? The whole idea of destiny is to focus on what will happen to a particular person or thing in the future. Depending on what you believe about the future, thinking about your destiny could either fill you with dread or delight.
For instance, If you believe you are destined to meet a tyrant who's been waiting to judge you for everything you've ever thought, said or done, then you may focus solely on enjoying the journey and give very little regard to the destination. True? Others believe that irrespective of the way you've travelled the path, you are destined for a paradisiacal afterlife. If you fall into this group, you probably believe you can enjoy the journey and still look forward to the destination. Right?

The disucssion will focus on recognizing the signs of domestic abuse (October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month). Random acts of kindness: Selfless acts performed by a person or people wishing either to assist or to cheer up an individual or people.
Metro - this Sabbath we all are going to perform random acts of kindness in our community, while simultaneously promoting our upcoming Destined series! We know that inviting people to come to church is sometimes a scary or uncomfortable task, so we're making it easy - you'll do something unexpectedly nice for a random person, which will include giving them one of our series postcards.
