msu 2019 1920 new

February will be here before you know it, and as is our custom, Metro has a month full of celebrations of our black heritage, including the Morgan State University Choir and more...

On February 2, we celebrate our Black History Special.  The renowned Morgan State University choir will provide our special music during the 11:45 a.m. service.  On February 9, we celebrate our African heritage, and our Caribbean heritage on February 16.  You know you won't want to miss the February 16 praise and worship experience!  We close the month out with our African Amerian heritage celebration on February 23, with Dr. Calvin Rock, renowned preacher and author of the new book Protest and Progress, as our guest speaker, and the Takoma Academy Chorale as our guest musicians.

We hope to see you at all of our Black History Month events, and encourage you to bring a friend!

Hello Metro Family,

We are continuing to serve our community during 2019 and we hope you'll join us as we form connections with our neighbors. Our monthly service projects generally focus on one event (soup kitchen, Metro card giveaway, grocery card giveaway, etc.) and take place after the 11:45 a.m. service.  We also have a spring and fall Beyond the Walls activity, where we have an abbreviated 11:45 a.m. service, and offer multiple service opportunities for the congregation to assist with.  In addition to our church-wide projects, our young adults, youth and children also have specific outreach activities they will participate in during the year.  And finally - each month we will continue to list our Personal Service Challenges - we ask you to choose five items from the month's list that you can do personally for people with whom you come in contact.

Below is a description of upcoming service projects, as well as the monthly personal service challenges.
