Last Saturday, November 2, Pastor Smith said that starting on November 9, the church would participate in four weeks of prayer and fasting, because "It's not that bad."

Each week, she will share an instruction sheet that contains the week's scripture for review, a task for you to accomplish, the things you will fast from during the week, and the times during the week when we will have corporate prayer via phone call.  Members are encouraged to submit their prayer requests, either online at using this form, or by texting your request to 301-646-3055.

The conference call number is (515) 604-9637; access code: 437251#

Metro we are inviting you to a special townhall meeting on Saturday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m.  We will discuss our church renovation project.  The renovation committee will present information they have collected, and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers.

Because of the early meeting start time, we will serve lunch for the church after the 11:45 a.m. service.  Our health mnistry team will share some important and beneficial information with us after and then we will go immediately into the town hall at 5:00 p.m.  We hope to see everyone there.  Remember - this is your opportunity to get your questions answered and to provide feedback.

Kids!  We've got a special Christmas program planned especially for you!  Come and experience a Bible-times Christmas event - One Starry Night - for children and families on December 15 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.  During this three-hour festive event, you will encounter and strike up conversations with Bethlehem villagers who are hoping for a Savior.  Along the way, you will enjoy hands-on experiences as you enter through the Bethlehem city gate, record your name for the census, gaze at constellations in the night sky, seek lodging at an inn, enjoy treats from the marketplace, and follow the shepherds to find baby Jesus.

Don't msis this interactive program - and bring several of your friends!  So that we adequtely prepare for all of our guests - please register online if you plan to attend.

Adults - we need volunteers to help us make One Starry Night a success! We need people to volunteer as station leaders and Bethlehem villagers, and to assist with set-up and breakdown rations.  You can also volunteer by donating supplies for the event:  we need children's gifts, pottery, large vases, urns, outdoor rugs, fabrics, large woven baskets and large floor pillows.  Please also register online if you are willing to volunteer.

Teens - you'll remember Pastor Mario Broussard as the guest speaker at our teen retreat earlier this year.  Yesterday, unfortunately, his baby daughter died.  She was only seven days old.

We are asking you to record a 20- to 30-second video clip with condolences or prayer for him and his family.  We will combine the videos into one and send it to the family from Metropolitan's Teens.

You can text your video to Arlette Pile [202-288-5012] or Pastor Smith [301-646-3055].  We need to receive the videos by noon on Monday (10/7).
