Even those of us of African descent know that a Nigerian is different from a Ghanaian, is different from a Guyanese, is different from a Jamaican, is different from a New Yorker, is different from a Floridian.

Freedom Fright tAn Arab chief tells a story of a spy who was captured and then sentenced to death by a general in the Persian army. This general had the strange custom of giving condemned criminals a choice between the firing squad and the big, black door. As the moment for execution drew near, the spy was brought to the Persian general, who asked the question, “What will it be: the firing squad or the big, black door?”

tn cry-of-the-oppressed std t nvYesterday, I found out that I am a slave owner.  69 slaves work for me.  What???? I'm black!  My ancestors were slaves!  I've seen Roots and 12 Years A Slave!!  How can I even remotely be involved in anything having to do with slavery???  And wait a minute - wasn't slavery abolished hundreds of years ago?  How could there be slaves anywhere for me to own?
