P6070023As we set up on Sabbath, June 7, for the clothing drive at Ridgecrest Elementary School, I wondered if our supplies would be enough for the families that were coming.  I watched in anticipation as our volunteers folded and organized the women's clothes, the men's clothes, baby clothes, shoes, toys, toiletries, bread, food, etc.

tn XsandOs tMetro!  You've done really well with our Jericho Walks.  It's time to add a few more plays to our game plan, so we need everyone out at Lifted this Sabbath!

After service, we'll be heading over to Ridgecrest to do a Jericho Walk around the school.  Principal Dunn will be at church on Sabbath, and she'll participate in the walk with us.  BTW, she's got a Metro Church t-shirt; do you????  We've still got some available if you need one.

For this Jericho Walk, it's going to be BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) - bring whatever food you need to energize you to participate in the afternoon's activities.  We'll provide water and fruit (bananas and grapes).

When we're finished at Ridgecrest, we'll head back to church and go straight into Lifted - where we'll dive into our game plan.  Pastor Johns will teach us how to take requests from the community.  You'll have the opportunity to practice these plays until you're comfortable with them.  We'll show you the areas of the Lewisdale we'll be targeting.  You'll learn about, and sign up to be playmakers with our visibility activities.  We'll give you the schedule for the summer, so you can plan to be with us the whole way through.  And most of all - we'll pray that God will lead and guide as we move to this next step.

This Sabbath, we'll also start to organize our teams of volunteers - "community angels" (help us collect and deliver goods) and "research experts" (help us find funding and support services).  Regardless of your age, you can impact this ministry.  If you're a student, earn your community service hours with us.  SIGN UP TODAY!  It's quick and easy!

tn IMG 1122Metro members showed they truly connect to their community by their generous response to our adopted school's request for help with their winter clothing drive.  Here are some pictures Latey Bradford took at the event.  Read the blog that goes along with the pictures.
