On Saturday, October 20, a group of enthusiastic Metro members headed to Franklin Square in Washington, DC to feed the homeless. Jenny Laquinte wrote a great blog about it that we encourage you to read because it fills in the details about the photos that you see here. This pictures in this photo blog are courtesy Wood Angle Photography.

Pastor Johns addresses the gathering crowd while they wait for the food and supplies to come
Everyone started lining up very orderly, without having to be given directions
This sister had her own praise party going on - she even selected the song she wanted sung!
While they waited for the food to arrive (why did the food leave Metro last???), Minister of Music Theo Milford did what he's called to do - lead out in praise and worship!
(BTW, we have a funny story about those water bottles you see above - they all have ROOTED tags, as that series was just around the corner, and as is our custom, they include the church's website. Comedian Levar Jones went around clowning on Melissa Andrews, wanting to know how the homeless were going to get online to check out the website)
Finally - the food and supplies start to show up!
Everybody who showed up had to work - even Pastor Johns! Ron Andrews seems contemplative as he carries his box
There's Levar Jones - stepping smartly!
Our Metro young men were out in full force (from left: Theo Milford, Levar Jones, Earl Monkou, Clent Smith)
Khadine Walters (mint sweater) is one of our newly baptized members. Jenny Laquinte (center) was one of the main organizers (and cooks) of this outreach
Though you can't see her face, we assure you that this lady in brown is Tammy Francois - the other main organizer (and cook) of this event
One of the best moments of the day - the volunteers and our guests united in prayer
The food is almost ready. The folks waiting to be fed can't wait!
Sophia Walker recently transfererd her membership to Metro; she smiles as she talks with one of our guests
Many of our guests expressed delight when they realized they were getting a hot meal (Jenny and Tammy were insistent about this, and made Melissa back down from her suggeted sandwiches and chips meal)
Bro. Thompson greets one of our guests
Lishel Souvenir (orange) - part of our hardworking serving team
Melissa Andrews thinks to herself, "Whew - this was a success; the board won't have anyting to complain about!"
Halfway through the feeding, Theo started mobilizing a small team to take food to some homeless in an adjoining park
A team of our young ladies taking water to that nearby park
Guy Francois exchanges words with one of our guests
Olanzo is having a good discussion here
Cheryl Ottley and one of our guests discussing "Steps to Christ" (we also distributed reading material)
Bro. Jean also has the opportunity to discuss "Steps to Christ"
Is this a "Receive this in your spirit?" conversation going on?
Sis. Lewis shares a laugh with a guest
Theresa Bennett (also a newly baptized member - these newly batpzied people were out in full force) engages a guest
Kareem Reid, Joan Dwyer and Sis. Lewis helped relieve our first serving team
Carille Walcott and Kari Foster-Williams talk with our guests
So not only did Tammy and Jenny cook for the homeless, they also cooked for the volunteers! These ladies are something else!!! Here we are feeding them from the back of the Francois' truck - so it didn't look like we were eating the food we brought for the homeless
