We extend a special invitation to you to join us during the weekend of January 18 and 19. As the Washington DC area takes part in the inauguration ceremony of President Barack Obama - we at Metro want to commemorate the event in our special way - by turning the focus to our Eternal President - Jesus Christ.
On Friday evening, January 18, starting a 5:00 p.m., Pastor Billingy will host a prayer vigil at the church. Stop on by on your way home from work or school and spend some time praying for our local church, our world church, and our country's leaders. You know that intercession for her members is one of Pastor B's greatest gifts - let's take this opportunity to connect to our community through prayer.
On Saturday morning for our 11 o'clock service, we are excited that Dr. C. Wesley Knight will be our guest speaker. Dr. Knight is a powerful speaker who has shared the gospel throughout our Union, and we know that we are in store for a blessing. The Howard Gospel Choir will provide music for the day - this dynamic group of young people who LOVE singing for Christ are sure to raise the roof (good thing we'll be getting it fixed soon!).
We're all invited to get "sticky" with each other after service - we'll hold a church-wide potluck. Now - don't start complaining and grumbling about how you won't get enough food. This is a new year, and we are about getting to know each other. Listen out for a phone call and look out for an email on what we'll need you to bring. And plan to stay and eat with us; don't run off home!
At 5:00 p.m., Lifted is back. In the spirit of the inauguration, we want to challenge our young adults: as they were successful in helping to get President Obama elected two times, how can they be successful in moving our church FORWARD in the years to come? It promises to be an exciting discussion, with a special guest panel.
To the members of our community - we invite you to attend as many of these events as you'd like. To our church members - we encourage you to bring those family members and friends who have come into town for the inauguration.. Let's celebrate together!
